Aboriginal Art Material
Aboriginal Dream Time Art in Australia is said to be the oldest in the world. Dating back some 10,000 years ago Dream Time paintings have been found throughout Australia on cave walls and rocks layer upon layer of design (including engravings dating back to 20,000 years).
The art materials used by Aboriginals in the past, incorporated materials gained from the Earth, whereby, for example colour was provided using different ochres and clays. As a result of the changing times, the use of new materials, such as canvas and synthetic-based paints, has led to the production of a new form of Australian Aboriginal Art contemporary Urban Art, whereby the way the art is being made has changed, however the subject used by Aboriginal Artists of Aboriginal Dream Time and technique still remains very much similar.
