Language : Kija Age : 48 years Sub Section : Nyowroo |
It should come as no surprise that Beryline is a creditable painter in her own right, although she has only recently taken up the brush. One of the fathers of the modern Warmun / Turkey Creek art movement was indeed her father, the late George Mung Mung, who with life long friend, Paddy Jampinji (Jampiny), possibly exerted some influence over such painters as Jack Britten, Hector Tjandany, Beryline's own husband Freddie Timms, the late Rover Thomas and Queenie McKenzie. Beryline resides at the tiny community of Frog Hollow, just to the south of Turkey Creek, where she divides her time between her children, her work at the school, and her new hobby, painting.
Medium : Paintings, natural ochres (pigments) on canvas, acrylic fixative.
Subjects / Themes: Texas Downs / Lissadell station country landscapes, with reference to gnarrangkani, dreamtime, sites, events and characters.
